DESCRIPTION

ABB F204 A S-40/0.1 – 4-pole selective residual current circuit breaker (Type S)

Selective residual current protection with the ABB F204 A S-40/0.1: This 4-pole residual current circuit breaker trips with a time delay at 100 mA. Therefore, in the event of a fault, only the downstream protective device trips – the rest of the system remains operational.

Your benefits at a glance

  • Property protection: 100 mA tripping current for upstream protection in selective installations.
  • Pulse current sensitive (Type A): Detects alternating fault currents and pulsating direct fault currents – for modern electronics.
  • Screw terminals: Proven and safe connection technology for conductor cross-sections up to 35 mm².
  • Space-saving: Compact 4-TE design (70.0 mm) for DIN rail mounting.
  • Selective (Type S): Time-delayed tripping for selective protection setup with downstream residual current circuit breakers (RCCBs).
  • ABB quality: Tested according to IEC/EN 61008 and approved for worldwide use.

Protective function and use

Type A residual current device (RCD) detects both sinusoidal alternating currents and pulsating direct currents. This makes it suitable for circuits with modern electronic devices such as LED dimmers, switched-mode power supplies, or induction cooktops. The rated residual current of 100 mA provides reliable protection against damage and fire. Therefore, it is frequently used as upstream protection in selective installations. Furthermore, this selective variant (Type S) operates with a time delay. Thus, in the event of a fault, only the affected circuit is de-energized, while the rest of the installation continues to operate. Experts also recommend regularly testing the RCD using the test button.

Assembly and wiring

The F204 A S-40/0.1 simply snaps onto a 35 mm DIN rail. You then connect the conductors using the screw terminals. Power can be fed in from both the top and bottom. Additionally, you can connect the residual current device (RCD) to the ABB PS busbar system. This eliminates the need for complex individual wiring. Furthermore, the test button simplifies regular functional testing.
